Jesus begins His final week of ministry by entering Jerusalem amidst a jubilant celebration. Multitudes greet Him, shouting “Hosannas” and waving palm branches in their hands, as He enters the city. For this reason, Christian tradition refers to this day as “Palm Sunday”—the day of Jesus’ triumphal entry. The fact that Christians through the centuries have commemorated this day suggests that it’s a day of great importance and significance. Notably, all four Gospel writers include this event in their Gospel account. Obviously God intended this event to reveal gospel truth.
So,what is the biblical meaning of Palm Sunday?

Stories such as this are common throughout the regular session at the West Virginia legislature. It encourages me that our studies from Paul’s letter to Philemon regarding forgiveness and reconciliation are certainly needed in the West Virginia Capitol.
This week’s study is titled “Forgiven Much? Forgive Much!” You can download our study here. We will be providing these studies three times each week during the session to allow those with extremely busy schedules to attend. We also distribute the notes to every legislator and elected official as well as many lobbyists and staff.

“[Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time] Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!””
